Dubener Platte wind farm connected to the grid

The Dubener Platte wind farm of BKW FMB Energy Ltd (BKW) started to generate electricity at the end of December 2010. BKW acquired the wind farm from Ventotec GmbH in Lower Saxony, Germany, in September 2010. Situated in Luckau, Brandenburg, the facility has an installed capacity of 40 MW and, with 20 turbines, will generate around 85 GWh of carbon-free electricity a year: equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of just over 20,000 households. Ventotec was responsible for the project development and construction of the wind farm. The startup of this facility has increased BKW's installed wind power capacity to 150 MW, strengthening its position as the leading Swiss wind power provider.

Ventotec GmbH was founded in 1998. With 350 planned wind power facilities (nominal capacity of 580 MW) and an investment volume in the region of EUR 830 million, the company is among Germany's leading project developers and operators in the wind power sector. Ventotec's registered office is in Leer, Lower Saxony. Its core businesses are project development, construction management, financing, and technical and commercial project management.
